Today Unique Voice drama group came into school to perform and run workshops highlighting the importance of E Safety. All of Key Stage Two watched a performance and then some children from years 5 and 6 worked with the E Safety Leaders to compose their own E Safety dramas. We hope to add some videos of the performances soon!

Robogals 26.3.14
We had a fantastic afternoon being engineers today. Engineering students from Bristol University came into work with the class. The activities included building spaghetti towers and programming a robot to dance! Hopefully it has inspired some of year 6s to think about engineering as a possible career path.
And here is one of the robots in action:
Cotham celebration of Music, Dance and Drama 25.3.14
Year 6 did the school proud with their outstanding behaviour and performance at the Celebration of Music, Dance and Drama held at Cotham school. Cabot year 6, along with two other local primary schools, showed-off their talent with two fantastic performances. First the children performed their dance, which had been choreographed by the children, to music composed and arranged using the music software 'Ejay' by a small group from the class. After the dance and music performance the children performed three pieces of performance poetry which had also been organised by the children. All in all it was a great evening and a brilliant way to celebrate all the talent we have in Cabot year 6!

Rocket Man! 14.3.14
To end Science and Engineering week, year 6 took part in a 'Rocket Man' workshop. Having watched a performance explaining the forces needed to launch a rocket and the need for a streamline design, we had the opportunity to make and launch our own rockets. We worked together to make a simple cylindrical-shaped rocket with a nose cone to help the the rocket fly straight. Once we had made our rockets, we went to the play ground to launch them. Steve, the Rocket Man, pressurised the launcher and we then 'charged' the launcher by pressing the green button and the red button released the rocket, firing it it hundreds of metres into the air.
It was great fun!

Foyles Book Shop Trip - 3.3.14
Here at Cabot Primary we love reading! As well as the on going 'Read for my school' online competition, we have lots of exciting book related activities happening this week. As part of Book Week 2014 we visit Foyles bookshop where our focus author was Michael Morpurgo. Amazingly, Michael Morpurgo's publisher (Egmont) produced a work search based on Escape from Shangri-La especially for Cabot Year 6 pupils. As well as completing a word search and listening to an extract from 'Escape from Shangri-La', we were also able to exchange our World Book Week token for a free book.
