We had a great day at the SS Great Britain today. We took part in workshop to become Isambard Kingdom Brunel's apprentices (we have the hats to prove it!). To become an apprentice we identified some of the problems facing the passengers and designed a way to solve the problem including: sea sickness, cramped living compartments, rats and gambling. After the workshop we had a guided tour of the ship. In the afternoon we had the opportunity to explore the museum and visited the dry dock. A fascinating and fun day had by all!

Explaining Volcanoes 13.12.13
This week year 6 have researched, planned and written explanation texts to give information about how and why volcanoes erupt. On Friday we followed instructions to build a 'working model' of a volcano. After building our volcanoes, we used a mixture of vinegar, washing up liquid and red food colouring added to bicarbonate of soda to create an erupting volcano.
